CASE STUDY:
RF CONNECT ENSURES INDUSTRY LEADING CONNECTIVITY FOR ORANGE COUNTY’S SOUTH COAST PLAZA

THE CHALLENGE
South Coast Plaza, an upscale shopping destination in California’s Orange County, needed to meet the ever-increasing demand for wireless access for its patrons and clients. South Coast Plaza engaged RF Connect to design, deploy and maintain a high performance multi-carrier Distributed Antenna System (DAS) for connectivity across the multitude of devices and services guests rely upon. The Plaza, with more than 250 boutique retailers, restaurants and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, includes approximately 2.8 million square feet of gross leasable area and is one of the largest shopping centers in the United States.
THE SOLUTION
To ensure the highest speed cellular connectivity throughout the center, RF Connect designed and deployed a multi-carrier Distributed Antenna System (DAS) with SOLiD wireless architecture. The deployment included the addition of Sprint 2.5 MHz 4G to the existing advanced DAS.
RF Connect chose the SOLiD wireless architecture due to its flexibility to support multiple carriers in large venues and its capability to expand and support future demand for high-speed services. The SOLiD system consistently provides superior results when adapting to changing demands. It supports unparalleled performance by providing a platform to meet the demands for both the retailers and guests with a robust fiber-based distribution network.
WHAT OUR CUSTOMER SAID
“It’s a pleasure to work with such a professional group, able to understand the unique requirements our upscale clients expect. RF Connect delivered the connectivity we needed,” said South Coast Plaza’s Director of Engineering, Ken van Dissel.
